REACH fair to promote careers in health care

An informational fair for those interested in careers in the health care field will be held from 4 to 7 p.m. Tuesday, August 25 at the Ozarks Medical Center (OMC) Parkway Center. The event is free and open to the public. Information will be available from area educational institutions as well as health care employers.

Those attending include Air Evac, Missouri State University-West Plains, South Central Career Center, Texas County Technical College, South Howell County Ambulance EMT school, OMC Laboratory Services, OMC IT Applications, OMC Accounting Department, OMC Human Resources, OMC Education Department, OMC Obstetrical Department, and the Medical Exploring Post.

Also, REACH scholarship applications are available through OMC Human Resources and can be picked up at the OMC Human Resources booth during the fair. The scholarships are for student aid for healthcare classes.

The fair is being held in conjunction with the grant-funded REACH, or Rural Education and Careers in Health, program. OMC received the grant from the Missouri Hospital Association in order to fund education, training, scholarship and recruitment programs for those wishing to enter the health care field.

“Health care-related jobs continue to grow and are expected to through 2022 as baby boomers retire and require more health care,” said Erin Roberts, OMC Education Manager. “This fair will give those interested in health care careers a chance to explore the many educational and career opportunities available in our area.”
