Women With Heart committee donates $12,000 for Sleep Study Machine

The Women with Heart Committee recently donated $12,000 to the Ozarks Medical Center Foundation to be used in the Sleep Center. The funds will be earmarked for the purchase one Sleep Study Machine. The machine costs $19,000 and anyone wishing to make a donation toward its purchase should contact the OMC Foundation. The funds were raised at a Here’s to your Heart luncheon, which was held in February and attended by more than 90 people. The luncheon was hosted by Women with Heart, a giving circle of the Community Foundation of the Ozarks. This was the fifth year for the luncheon, which has raised $48,538 for the OMC heart care program. The next committee event will be a Christmas and chocolate extravaganza in early December, hosted by Jim and Jane Streff. For more information, contact a Women with Heart Committee member.

The OMC Sleep Center is located in Parkway Center in a facility that opened in 2013, combining state-of-the-art technology with a hotel-like atmosphere. The Sleep Center has six bedrooms for overnight sleep studies, each featuring a flat-screen television, sound-proof walls, individually controlled heating and cooling units, and a private restroom with shower.

More than 40 million Americans suffer from chronic, long-term sleep disorders. The sleep lab offers a number of studies to help identify an individual’s source of sleep problems, and then work with their personal physician to provide necessary treatment. The OMC Sleep Center is the only American Academy of Sleep Medicine accredited sleep center in the immediate area.
