OMC to require masking for unvaccinated coworkers

OMC to require masking for unvaccinated coworkers

In 2015, Ozarks Medical Center (OMC) adopted a policy that requires unvaccinated healthcare workers to mask during flu season.

OMC has identified triple the number of flu cases over the previous weeks throughout the OMC service area. In response, OMC leadership met with physician leaders and health department officials and has determined that effective immediately and until further notice, any unvaccinated healthcare worker including clinical, ancillary, contracted workers, volunteers, and students be required to wear a mask while working at any OMC facility.

“The public should not be alarmed when visiting OMC should they see OMC staff in masks. This is a precaution taken through flu season to avoid the spreading of the flu,” said Kurt Abbey, Chief Nursing Officer. “We encourage everyone to get the flu shot if they have not already done so.”
