29th Annual OMC Foundation Fun Run Draws a Crowd

The Ozarks Medical Center Foundation 29th Fun Run drew a crowd on Friday, April 5, of over 600 including runners, volunteers, and many parents supporting their children who participated in the event! The “Stronger than Cancer” themed run was established to raise funds for the OMC Cancer Treatment Center.

The Foundation was excited to involve members of the community including Theresa Speak who held a stretching clinic before the run, the great Joe Bill Dixon was there to fire the gun to start the race, Ken Joplin acting as master of ceremonies, with Jack Johnson as the lead pace car and Lindel Copeland bringing in the final runners. Dr. Marvin Fowler who was slated to be the Grand Marshall of the run, later decided he would rather run the race than ride.

Special Awards were given to “Team Richard” from Davidson Insurance for the Corporate Team Award, bringing the most runners from a corporation out for the event; Glenwood School for the School Spirit Award representing the school with the most attendants at the run; and the OMC Oncology Department with a team name of “Finishing the Fight” for the OMC Spirit Award, having the most participants from a single department at OMC.

Christopher Mitchell, along with a couple of local coaches, was there to award medals to runners who placed 1st, 2nd, or 3rd in both male and female and multiple age divisions. Winners, in females 1-8 age division were Becca Loges, Audrey Jens, and Kaylynn Stevens; in males 1-8 age division were Mason Chambers, Jackson Judd, and Judson Hayes.
