OMC Welcomes Their January 2019 Nurse Residency Cohort
WEST PLAINS, Mo – Ozarks Medical Center (OMC) would like to welcome
their fourth Nurse Residency Cohort. These six graduates come from the
Arkansas Rural Nursing Education Consortium (ARNEC) out of Melbourne.
The six graduates are James Foster, Wiseman, Ark.; Kandis Williams, West
Plains; Sarah West, Winona; Jennifer Foster, West Plains; MaKayla Smithee,
Thayer; and Alicia Hicks, Myrtle, Ark.
OMC’s Nurse Residency Program begins in January and June of each
year. It is a 12 week program that assists recent graduates in the transition
from nursing school into their new roles. Over the next 12 weeks, each
of them will spend time in approximately 27 areas of the hospital. The
goal is to find the perfect fit by the end of the 12 weeks depending on
job openings as each of them will stay at OMC.
“Our goal with the nurse residency program is to train nurses to
serve our community,” Karlee Marvin, Nurse Residency Coordinator
said. “We hope to train a staff so they know how to provide compassionate
care at OMC.”
OMC is currently accepting applications for the June Cohort, with a deadline
to apply by May 1. To be eligible, applicants must have completed an RN
program within six months and have current RN licensure, preferred or
scheduled, with successful completion of the NCLEX within 90 days. For
more information on how to apply, you can visit www.ozarksmedicalcenter.com/For-Community/Nurse-Residency-Program.aspx.
