OMC Wound Care Recognized with National Award for Clinical Excellence
WEST PLAINS, Mo – Ozarks Medical Center (OMC) Wound Care was awarded
the Center of Distinction Award, by Healogics, the nation’s largest
provider of advanced wound care services.
OMC Wound Care achieved outstanding clinical outcomes for twelve consecutive
months, including a patient satisfaction rate of higher than 92 percent,
and a minimum wound healing rate of at least 91 percent within 30 median
days to heal. There were 621 Centers eligible for the Center of Distinction
award and 423 achieved the honor.
“We are extremely honored to receive this award of excellence for
the third time. OMC Wound Care continues to provide exceptional, compassionate
care,” said Tom Keller, President and CEO of Ozarks Medical Center.
“With state-of-the-art treatments and patient education available,
people with non-healing and chronic wounds have a place to turn.”
About OMC Wound Care
OMC Wound Care, a member of the Healogics network of nearly 700 Wound Care
Centers®, provides specialized treatment for chronic or non-healing
wounds, which are defined as sores or wounds that have not significantly
improved from conventional treatments. Associated with diabetes, inadequate
circulation, poorly functioning veins, and immobility, non-healing wounds
lead to a lower quality of life and may even lead to amputations.
Leading-edge treatments at OMC Wound Care include negative pressure wound
therapy, total contact casting, bio-engineered tissues, biosynthetic dressings,
and growth factor therapies. The Center also offers hyperbaric oxygen
therapy, which works by surrounding the patient with 100 percent oxygen
to help progress the healing of the wound.
Wound care is provided by a panel of physicians and staff that includes
surgeons specially trained for treating hard to heal wounds. The panel
includes medical director Dr. Sonia Gerlick, Dr. Magdy Giurgius, Dr. Rex
Goodman, Dr. Antony Joseph, and Dr. William McGee.
