Pulmonologist Dr. Biplab Saha joins Ozarks Medical Center

Biplab Saha, M.D., board-certified pulmonologist, recently joined the multi-disciplinary Ozarks Medical Center (OMC) Medical Group. Dr. Saha brings a multi-faceted skill set with experience in critical care, internal medicine and pulmonology to OMC Pulmonology, where he will diagnose and treat conditions of the lungs and respiratory system.

Dr. Saha previously worked for Albany Medical Center and College, New York, where he served as a fellow in pulmonary critical care. He has completed a residency in internal medicine at Saint Barnabas Medical Center, Livingston, NJ. Dr. Saha earned his medical degree from Dhaka Medical College Hospital, Bangladesh.

Dr. Saha is board certified in both internal medicine and pulmonary disease and board eligible in critical care medicine. He cares for adult patients with lung diseases and respiratory conditions, including asthma, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD), emphysema, interstitial lung disease, lung cancer and more – both inpatient and in the clinic. His services include fiber optic bronchoscopy, interventional pulmonary medicine, and lung cancer screening.

When asked why he chose pulmonology as a specialty, Dr. Saha replied that it requires one to be very well trained in every subspecialty, since critically ill patients in the ICU can have a whole host of additional problems. He finds it challenging and looks forward to be able to expand the breadth of care available to our ICU patients. Patients that may have previously been transferred to other facilities, can receive the critical care they may require right here.

Having grown up in rural Bangladesh, he appreciates the needs of a rural population. His father was a general practice physician with no ICU available within 300 miles of his clinic. “Whether it was 3 a.m. or 3 p.m., if patients showed up, my father treated them,” said Dr. Saha. “I guess that instilled a strong work ethic in me, and I don’t mind extra or late hours.”

“We are very excited to welcome Dr. Saha to the OMC Medical Group,” said Pam Ream, Vice President, OMC Medical Group. “His wealth of experience with critically-ill patients make him a wonderful addition to our multi-specialty provider group.”

Dr. Saha sees patients Monday through Friday, from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. at OMC Pulmonology located with OMC Heart Care Services at 1115 Alaska Ave., Suite 114, West Plains. For more information or to make an appointment, please call OMC Pulmonology at 417-257-5950.
