Everyone needs a hero but cancer patients need superheroes. The funds from this event go to help patients who are in need and undergoing cancer treatment at OMC with costs such as medication and transportation to treatments. This year, the OMC Fun Run will have a superhero theme and participants are encouraged to show off their inner superhero. Individual and team awards will be given for the most spirit. Teams qualify for a discount of $5 off individual registrations.
Race Events & Timing
This year the OMC Fun Run will include a 1.5 mile, 5K and 10K. The 5K and 10K will be electronically timed using ChampionChip timing. Timing chips must be returned at the finish line. There will be a $25 fee for unreturned chips. The 1.5 mile event is not timed.
Plan to stop by the OMC Parkway Center on April 25 to visit the OMC Superhero Race Expo. The expo will be held from 3 to 7 p.m. Participants can stop by to pick up their race bib and t-shirts and visit our vendor booths! There will also be door prizes and fun activities, such as superhero cape decorating and balloon animals made by our very own Superman! If you are interested in a booth at the expo, call 417-257-6737. Participants in the 5K & 10K must still check in the morning of the race to receive their timing chip. Chip pickup will end 15 minutes prior to the race start.
Participants wishing to take advantage of the early registration discount must submit their registration forms in person, by mail or online by 5 p.m. April 11. Those registering by April 11 will receive their free t-shirt on event day. Participants who register after April 11 may opt to pick up their free t-shirt at the OMC Public Relations Office after May 7 OR designate t-shirt money to assist OMC Cancer Treatment Center patients.
Participants may also register online at www.racesonline.com. A $2.50 processing fee is charged by the site. Online registration closes at 11:59 p.m. April 24
Event Day Registration
Entrants may register the day of the race. Registration will begin at 7:30 a.m. at the start line area in front of the Shaw Medical Building, 1111 Kentucky Avenue. Event day registration will close at 8:30 a.m. All race events begin promptly at 9 a.m.
Start Line & Parking
This year’s race will begin and end at the Shaw Medical Building, 1111 Kentucky Avenue, West Plains. Parking at the Shaw Building will be limited and reserved for handicap participants and visitors of the hospital. Parking is available in lots on the OMC campus and at the OMC Parkway Center. Porta-Potty facilities will be available near the start line. The race begins at 9 a.m.
OMC Wellness and Rehabilitation Services will conduct a stretching clinic to help participants warm up for their event. The clinic will be held near the start line at 8:45 a.m.
Trophies will be awarded in the 5K and 10K events to the five overall male and female finishers. Medals will be awarded to three male and female finishers in each age division, who are not in the top five overall. Superhero spirit awards will also be awarded. Awards will be announced after the final participant has crossed the finish line.
