OMC president, CEO earns top health care management credential

David Zechman, president and CEO of Ozarks Medical Center, has been named a Fellow in the American College of Healthcare Executives (ACHE), the nation’s leading professional society for health care leaders.

ACHE’s members include more than 30,000 health care executives, who lead the nation’s hospitals and health care organizations.

“Fellow status represents the person’s continued achievement in meeting high standards of professional development, excellence and leadership as a health care executive,” said Thomas Dolan, FACHE President and CEO. “By becoming an ACHE Fellow and simultaneously earning board certification from ACHE, health care leaders can show that they are committed to providing high-quality service to their patients and community”

To obtain fellow status, candidates must meet academic criteria, earn continuing education credits, and demonstrate professional and community involvement over a several-year period.

“I am truly honored to have earned this distinction,” Zechman said. “I look forward to the opportunities this will provide for me to advance my professional skills and strengthen OMC’s place in the local, state and national health care field.”

Zechman will be formally recognized as advancing to fellow status at a convocation ceremony on March 21, 2010 in Chicago, Ill.

Zechman came to OMC as president and CEO in June 2008 with more than 25 years of health care experience. Previously, he was the CEO of Glades General Hospital in Belle Glade, Fla. He has also held senior management positions at Jewish Hospital and St. Mary’s HealthCare in Louisville, Ky., and at St. Luke’s Shawnee Mission Health System in Kansas City, Mo. He is originally from Cleveland, Ohio.

Zechman is a member of the West Plains Rotary Club, serves as a member of the West Plains Chamber of Commerce and teaches Sunday school at the First United Methodist Church of West Plains. He and his wife, Rhonda, have two adult daughters, Audra of Chicago, Ill., and Alyssa of Jupiter, Fla.
