At Riverways of Ozarks Medical Center, we know that when you or one of your loved ones is ill or injured, there's no place you'd rather be than in your own home. Because Riverways knows and understands these feelings, we work hard to make this possible. All of our home care programs are housed together under one roof and we coordinate services to provide a full continuum of care to meet your needs. Riverways Home Care

Riverways Home Care works closely with your physician to provide the medical care he or she recommends for you or your loved one. Our skilled staff of nurses, home health aides, rehabilitation therapists and social workers are dedicated to providing the best possible health care to patients in their own homes.

Riverways Support Services

Riverways Support Services offers the assurance that you or your loved one's daily needs are met by providing services such as homemaking, personal care, respite care and in-home companion care.

Riverways Transitions

Riverways Transitions is a unique end-of-life care program. The non-nursing, volunteer-based program offers assistance, encouragement and support to those who are diagnosed with a life-limiting illness and who have a prognosis of one year or less, but who are not yet suited for, or are not choosing, hospice for a variety of reasons. The focus of the program is to link clients with community resources that can help meet their needs.

Riverways Hospice

Riverways Hospice provides for the physical, emotional and spiritual needs of patients and their families in the final stages of an incurable illness. Riverways Hospice offers a full range of services, including nursing care, medications and much more. Trained volunteers play an integral role in the care that is given to both patients and the patients' families as they face end-of-life issues.

The Riverways Difference

•  We are your local provider, fully owned and operated right here in south central Missouri.
We have provided home care to the people of this region since 1974 - longer than any other agency in this area.
We're the only area provider that encompasses all three services - home health, support services and hospice - under one roof.
We offer more availability of a full range of services than other agencies in the area - including rehabilitation therapies (physical, occupational and speech therapy) and newborn home visits.
We're a part of Ozarks Medical Center's network of care. This association gives us access to non-traditional home health professionals, such as pharmacy consultants, nutritionists, respiratory therapists and patient educators, to provide the care you need.
Working in cooperation with the medical center and its staff of approximately 70 physicians, we provide continuity of care for patients as they are discharged from the hospital to their own homes or to nursing homes.
Riverways of OMC is accredited by the Joint Commission on Accreditation of Healthcare Organizations (JCAHO).

Volunteers

The Riverways Hospice program is supported by a number of caring and unique individuals who offer physical, mental, emotional and spiritual support to the patient and the patient's family as they face a terminal illness.

A hospice volunteer might run errands, prepare an occasional meal, sit with a patient while the caregiver takes a much-needed rest, provide transportation, perform clerical duties, participate in fund raisers and other public events.

Volunteers for Riverways Hospice of OMC must be at least 18 years of age. Although no special educational degrees or skills are necessary, volunteers attend a training session which teaches them how to deal with end-of-life issues. There also are opportunities for individual or groups of teens to do support projects for the hospice program.

For more information about how to be a hospice volunteer, contact Riverways Hospice of OMC at
417-256-3133 or E-mail riverways@ozarksmedicalcenter.com.
