Our volunteers span a large cross-section of our community and each has special talents that can't be duplicated by others.

Programs of OMC Volunteers

We Have A Little Emergency (WHALE)
Sponsored by the OMC Auxiliary Volunteers, the program is designed to identify children in car seats during emergency situations where the parent or other adults in a vehicle are incapacitated after a motor vehicle accident.

Information packets, including instructions for the program, are available at no charge at the OMC Ambulance bases , South Howell County Ambulance base, the OMC Emergency Department and the OMC Volunteer desk.

The packet contains

•  stickers for parents to fill out, which identify the child and list special medical information
two WHALE program identification stickers for each side of the infant car seat
two stickers for the windows of the vehicle

When children are involved in motor vehicle accidents and the parents are injured and unable to answer questions, the program assists emergency personnel by telling them the child's name and nearest living relative or guardian. To schedule a speaker for your group or organization or for more information about the program contact the OMC Volunteer Manager at volunteers@ozarksmedicalcenter.com
or call 417-256-9111, ext. 6810.
