Mass Casualty Disaster Drill held March 24
Ozarks Medical Center, City of West Plains, West Plains Police Department,
West Plains Fire Department, Howell County Sheriff’s Department,
Howell County 911, Missouri State Highway Patrol, South Howell Ambulance,
and Texas County Memorial Hospital Ambulance participated in a Mass Casualty
Disaster Drill on Friday, March 24 at the corner of Broadway and Kentucky
in the Cash Saver parking lot. The event was evaluated by the State Emergency
Management Agency (SEMA). West Plains High School JAG and drama departments,
Zizzer Pride Academy students, and Missouri State University-West Plains
nursing students were volunteer victims and patients.
“We appreciate the great cooperation in the community and among our
staff. Drills are a learning opportunity for all concerned so that we
can respond well to disasters,” said Tom Keller, President and CEO of OMC.
