OMC honored for excellence in statewide marketing competition
Ozarks Medical Center (OMC) has received statewide recognition for two
projects produced by the health care system to educate and inform community
and area residents.
The Show-Me Excellence Awards, presented annually by the Missouri Association
for Healthcare Public Relations and Marketing (MAHPRM), recognize high
achievement and superb quality in advertising, marketing and public relations
projects produced by hospitals and health care systems throughout the state.
Melissa Smith, Media Relations Specialist at OMC Marketing and Public Relations
Department, brought home a first place award in the category of Special
Marketing or Public Relations Project for its 2017 OMC Dice Run of the
Mills advertising campaign. The campaign included programs, score cards,
sponsor brochures, ads, Facebook posts, and news releases. Second and
third place in the category went to CoxHealth, Springfield and Southeast
Health, Cape Girardeau, respectively.
Smith earned a third place award in the category of Special Purpose Publication
for the 2017 OMC Blue Jean Ball invitation. First and second place in
the category went to Saint Luke’s Health System, Kansas City, and
BJC HealthCare, St. Louis.
This was Smith’s fifth and sixth Show-Me-Excellence awards. In 2017,
she won second place for the 2016 OMC Superhero Fun Run advertising campaign
and the “Hey Girl! Keep Calm and Have a Mammogram” brochure.
In 2016, she won first place for the 2015 OMC Blue Jean Ball advertising
campaign and second place for the 2015 OMC Blue Jean Ball invitation.
The awards were presented at the MAHPRM Summer Forum in June at Lake of
the Ozarks. A statewide panel of public relations and marketing professionals
judged the 178 entries in this year’s competition.
“We’re honored that the work of Ozarks Medical Center has been
selected to receive this statewide recognition,” said Tom Keller,
OMC President and CEO. “These awards highlight our efforts to keep
the community informed and up-to-date about the organization and our services.”
The awards competition was established by MAHPRM in 1981 and is the only
Missouri competition dedicated to hospital and health care public relations
and communications. With 22 categories, the competition included projects
in media relations, advertising, publications, writing, photography, marketing
and public relations.
